Intertwine
This piece was made from printing two different found and discarded images onto separate pieces of tracing paper, then slicing the images and weaving them together. This was to represent the merging and distortion of memories overtime. The weaving process represents the intertwining of moments, where as the use of portraits signifies the merging and loss of detail of identity. Through presenting old images of people who have now passed, brings forward similar notions shown in the Dutch and Flemish Vanitas paintings; the inevitability of death and transience of life. The use of tracing paper was to allow light to shine through the images; the lucidness of the paper reflecting the fading motion of memories.
